formally, i am a christian. always have been, always will be. but there are other sectors of spirituality that i do believe in and partake in, in this case, taoism.
taoism's key principles are following 道/tao. tao is not a religious figure, but instead is a philisophical nature which involves no gods. it involves taking care of yourself & others!
this includes yin & yang, feng shui, and meditation; along with practicing compassion, humility and openheartedness.
taoism has helped me become a kinder person after years of sorrow quickly turned me hard & bitter. by practicing feng shui, i'm ensured a peaceful nights rest and focus and happiness the next morning onward. you are guaranteed live more harmoniously when you have tao in mind! the foundational text is the tao te ching.
feng shui
1. you should have plants and decor that represent the 5 elements to allow for clear chi! there's a reason why the majority of my furniture is wooden.
2. always keep a tidy space to prevent stagnant chi.
3. ensure all pathways are clear, you should position your bed so that you can see all pathways (window, doors) clearly, without being so close that you would be unable to see an intruder.
4. do not display broken items.
5. when resting, do not have your mirror facing your bed head on. if you can see yourself the moment you wake up, that's a sign to move it.
6. let in natural light whenever possible, sheer curtains are good for maintaining privacy while allowing in the light. reduce useage of artificial lighting
7. NO NEGATIVE WORDING ON DECOR. EVER
yin / yang
it's important to keep your yin & yang balanced. (yin is the black one, yang being the white one) yang is active and firey, aswell as masculine. and too much of that can obviously lead to burnout, anger, and other unpleasant symptoms. if you find yourself overtired, overactive and irritable, the issue could be your yin & yang are very very out of balance. yin is still, quiet, and at peace, along with feminine. to balance your yin, you should eat yin foods along with focusing on stillness by slowing down in life, reducing the constant need to be in a hurry is key. you must rest well, not only at night, but during the day.
